Foxy At Forty?

Go out and buy a copy of Image Magazine this month (August 2014) and flick to the fashion bit, and you’ll see me! I was invited to take part in a shoot for a piece by Uber Stylist Cathy O’Connor. Entitled “1 Item, 4 Ways”, Cathy was tasked to style one item (a jacket) for four different working women, all of different decades. I was representing the 40’s!

I am happy to have taken part because I think it’s a really positive thing to be showing real women in magazines, and not just size 0 models. Also, Image Magazine seems to be written for women who are interested in fashion and style in general, and not just a specific age group (“U” know what I mean!). This makes sense to target women with more disposable income, I know I spend more on clothes now than I did in my 20’s, so for advertisers it’s probably more lucrative to hit the over 30’s if they want to generate sales.

Here’s the pic!

I learned a lot from the experience – notably the number of professionals who do the work to make those shoots work. Thanks to Image Magazine for having me!  Cathy styled it with some help from her assistants. Lorraine Browne did the hair, and I was IN AWE of the work of make-up artist Derrick Carberry who gave me eyebrows I wouldn’t have even had the nerve to dream about! The real star of the day, however, was photographer Naomi Gaffey who made me feel at ease, and ultimately took the Money Shot! Another strong female doing a great job, and not living up to the stereotype of what I thought fashion photographers are.

If you have an event coming up, and you’d like me to smile brightly, you just need to ask… !
Mwah mwah!
