I’ve got a great tip for you this week and it’s how to add captions Facebook video. Get Facebook to automatically add captions to your videos. When you upload native video content to Facebook it will autoplay in news feeds and that’s a good thing. But the thing is – it will also play with the sound muted.
People watching have to tap the video in order to get the sound. Research shows that 85% of Facebookers won’t actually tap until after the first three seconds. That’s three seconds of valuable content that you’re missing if you don’t use captions!

Before it was a really difficult affair to add captions to your video. It was a technical process and one beyond the realms of people like you and I so now you can use these great instructions on how to use Facebook to add captions to your video Check it out come back to me after.
Okay, so you will go to your Facebook business manager. And add a video, upload video content, and right here you can see the video is uploading. But I want to show you something that can happen. When you click on captions if you don’t have a button here saying
“Generate” if you’re only getting the option to upload an SRT file don’t worry continue uploading
And then save that video as unpublished and when it has been saved
You can go to your video library to select it and work from there. So to access your video library click on videos over here. Then click on video library on the right hand side here and now you’ll be presented with all of your videos including unpublished ones, so here’s one I have prepared earlier. But I haven’t got the captions in. This time you click on captions and you’ll get that lovely generate button so you click that.
And that will load the captions editor. So this is marvellous, this is where Facebook will determine what the caption should be based on what’s in the video. If you want you can scan through this and you can play with this button here preview the segment so you can see and you can actually see what it’s referring to. So take about five minutes to go down and fix the punctuation and capitalization and when you’re done you can hit save video. Don’t worry if you want to go back in and edit those captions once you’ve done it, you can of course, they’re all here. And you can scroll down to the part you want to go to, hit save to video. And then this here is saying that it’s in English language. And then you just need to go back to your basic form filling. Give your video title, put in a few tags
And hit save and you’re done.
