Note to Blog Awards Judges

The Irish Blog Awards are coming round again soon. Nominations are open – you’ve got until Wed to nominate blogs you like (ahem) – especially for the business category. In the event that this blog is nominated, and judges are doing their judging thing, can I just point out that I’ve been on holidays since 12 December and that is the reason for the lack of posts between then and now?
- Yes it is a long holiday.
- No I’m not making it up – I do take obscene amounts of time off to get away from Ireland in the grim months of winter.
- Yes I had a super time thanks. You should see my tan.
I’m sure there’s a super secret method of calculating the winners, and I’m certain that frequent posting is necessary. But long holidays are also a must to keep the old creative juices flowing. In the meantime, things I’ve been considering in recent times include:
- Why hasn’t anyone invented Surf Lifts? Rather like ski lifts, these ones would give you and your board a ride out to beyond the line. Would make life much easier for novices like myself who get battered on the way out.
- Similarly, why hasn’t anyone invented a sun screen product that freezes when it hits hair? That way you could lash on the sunscreen to your face and know that it’s not going to run into your eyes (and sting!) because it would stop at your eye brows.
- Why can’t Ireland have a national drink that is a cocktail? I would like to support a motion to remove Guinness from it’s lofty position and reinstate with something we all like – like a capriosca or a mojito
