How to Save Water

August 1, 2008 at 9:46 am

Updated site for Dublin City Council - Taptips.ie.   The Council needed to communicate a variety of information to homes, businesses, and younger people.  Rather than go the route of static content, we went with some interactive flash elements to drive the point home.

  • Anyone remember “Jackie” magazine?  On the work page, there’s a jackie-style quiz where you can find out just how good your biz is at managing water.  Results can be printed and you can go off and implement the recommendations.  You should because you’ll save money on your water bill.
  • There’s an interesting  water usage calculator which shows you how much water you use in the home.  It doesn’t quite advocate cutting down on showers (or showering with a friend!), but it certainly made me more aware of how much water gets wasted.  When you think of the amount of processing and the energy that uses before water gets to us, and then think of how we just leave taps running while washing our teeth, it’s so wasteful.
  • Finally, if you’ve got kids and they’re stuck for something to do - then check out the kids section.  Downloads to keep them happy on wet days.  And interesting info on just how water makes it to our homes.  It’s quite alright to like the kids section even if you’re not one!
