Bye Bye Posterous
A second site to be retired in under a week! This time, it’s my personal baby love site over on Posterous. I set this up before I even knew what sex my child would be. I post little pics and vids from my iphone and it keeps the family of doting aunties and friends from around the world updated on progress. I also do it for him, so that he will have a documented record of his life – a must for any child of the second decade of the 21c!
Yesterday I heard mutterings on Twitter that something that was up over in Posterous-land. This was quickly confirmed by @jangles and @krishnade (thanks guys!). Neville sent a nice linky link to piece of mind. I decided I’d make the move today over lunch, and I can confirm it was easy as… no thinking involved, and we can all rest easy knowing that Airt is restored again. Thanks to @jas who recommended Postie as a plugin for mobile uploads. I’ll install that just as soon as all the content has migrated.
The thing is: I rather liked Posterous. When Tumblr came out, I looked at that too, but decided to stay on Posterous for its ease of use and beauty. I’m fiercely loyal to first mover sites that work for me.. which is why I’m still on Tweetdeck not Hootsuite. If it ain’t broke, don’t switch it! This article explains why this is happening – more bloody M&A activity getting in the way of things!
