New Brightspark Website – With My Face All Over It!

It has been 8 years waiting, but finally I am delighted to say that the Brightspark site has been updated and is now sporting an extreme close-up of myself on the home page! Before you and file me in the narcissistic drawer of your mind, I did fight this… I made a lot of loud noises that I DIDN’T THINK IT WAS SUCH A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A PICTURE OF ME ON THERE… but I listened to what my Most Trusted Peeps have to say, and in the end it stayed there.

Brightspark is as much about me so why not?

The other thing you’ll notice is that it’s a totally content driven site now.  Part of the brief was to move away from displaying the services in a menu style approach and to move more towards showing off the content I write about, as a way of showing off my knowledge about the subjects (in the hope that you’ll do business with me based on that).

This will make me post more often….

I do love to blog.  Some people say blogging is dead, but it’s still the main repository of the business message.  What’s the point in having Twitter, Facebook, and all the other great and good social media places working for you if you’ve nowhere to place your content and your business ideas?

A note on Facebook: I do not have a Facebook presence as Brightspark.  This is because I believe Facebook is mainly a consumer place.  I don’t think people want to be hit by Brightspark when they’re relaxing and having fun.  They might want some of the weirdness I post up – but it’s as me and not my business.

A note on Twitter: I joined Twitter fairly early on and at the time I was just ‘testing it out’ to see if it might be something that businesses would use.  Therefore I tweet as me and not Brightspark.  If I feel like tweeting about what I ate for my dinner I will.  If I wish to rail against something that’s happening that I feel passionately about, I’ll do that too.  You won’t find that kind of thing on here, the blog.

This is where I write about the ups and downs of running an internet business in Dublin.

It is what I have done here for almost 10 years now.  Nothing changes in that regard.  It’s just wearing a nicer outfit.  : )
